WLF’s published copyright policy explains that the platform seeks to host lawful content and provides a complaint process for rights holders who believe material posted on the WLF website infringes legal rights.
The policy notes that WLF may notify the posting member of an alleged violation, may remove or disable access to content, and may terminate or disable repeat infringers where appropriate.
The official policy states that written copyright notices should follow the Digital Millennium Copyright Act requirements and include identifying information for the complainant, a description of the protected work, the location of the allegedly infringing material, contact details, and good-faith and accuracy statements made under penalty of perjury.
WLF also warns that false notices or counter-notices may create personal liability and encourages complainants to seek legal advice where appropriate.
The published policy says that a person who believes material was removed in error may submit a counter-notice. The counter-notice must include the removed material identification, the user’s signature, a good-faith statement regarding mistake or misidentification, and the required jurisdiction and service-of-process statements under the DMCA.
